NCCP (National Cancer Control
Programme)
The Cancer Control Programme was
started in 1975-76 as a central sector project. It was renamed as
National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) in 1985 from the 8th
5 year plan period the objective of GOI is to provide early and accurate
diagnosis with prompt treatment of cancer. In order to fulfill this
objective the GOI has planned to set up the following institution in
every state.
- Setting up of regional Cancer Center.
- Setting up of Oncology Wing with Cobalt
Therapy facility.
- Implementation the District Cancer Control
Programme
Objectives:
- Primary preventive of cancers by health
education regarding hazards to tobacco consumption and necessity of
genital hygiene for prevention of cervical cancer.
- Secondary prevention by early detection and
diagnosis of cancer by screening methods as patients education on
self examination methods.
- Strengthening the existing cancer treatment
facilities, which were inadequate.
- Palliative care in terminal stage cancer.

Registry Programme.
Under this initiative, Nodal Officer
have been identified and the current status in regard to cancer in the
state are

Proposal:
Since the year 2003 – 04 the
GON has been pursuing with the GOI for the establishment of the
following project:
- Regional Cancer Centre for NHAK.
- Oncology Wing for District Hospital Mokokchung.
- District Cancer Control Programme for all
district.
