INTEGRATED DISEASE SURVILLANCE PROJECT (IDSP)
Background: The Integrated Disease
Surveillance Project which is a decentralized state based surveillance
programme in the country, it is intended to detect early warning signals of
impending outbreak to initiate an effective, timely response. Also to
provide essential data to monitor progress of ongoing disease control
programme and help allocate health resources more effectively. CONSTITUTION OF RAPID RESPONSE TEAM (RRT): For early detection of
outbreak and effective Surveillance of disease during outbreaks and for
systemized monitoring of activities Rapid Response Team (RRT) have been
constituted at the State and District levels. The IDSP State Rapid Response
Team undertakes the overall responsibility for the confirmation,
investigation, supervision and monitoring of reported outbreaks under the
Directorate of Health & Family Welfare at the State level. Whereas, the
District RRT have the responsibility for all activities in their respective
district.
