Goals:
- The immediate
objective, as envisioned in the National Population policy 2000
(NPP) is to address the unmet needs of contraceptive, health
care infrastructure, health personal and provide integrated
service delivery for basic reproductive and child health care
with special focus on Empowered Action Group (EAG) states/and
states facing biggest socio-demographic challenges and the urban
poor..
- The Medium Term
objective outlined in the NPP 2000 is to bring the Total
Fertility rat5e (TFR) to replacement level by 2010 though
coordinated implementation of the inter-sectoral linkages.
- The Long-Term
objective is to achieve a stable population by 2045, at a level
consistent with the requirements of sustainable economic growth,
social development and environmental protection.
More specifically in terms of Tenth
Plan/NPP 2000objectives are to:
1. Reduce the decadal rate of population growth.
2.
Reduce IMR to 45 per 1000 live births by 2007 and < 30 per 1000 live
birth by 2010.
3.
Reduce TFR to 2.1 by 2010
4. Improve coverage of full Ante Natal Care (ANC)
5. Improve coverage of Institutional
deliveries
6. Improve coverage of fully immunized children
7. Improve Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR)
8. Improve quality coverage and effectiveness of the existing Family
Welfare and essential RCH services with special focus on the EAG
states.
